Reviews
Chateau St Jean is a beautiful property, way better than I was expecting, looks like there is so many places to explore and taste, they have lots of tasting areas and the members area looks especially nice. Beautiful architecture and gardens on this property. The wine tasting with quin was very nice, he was informative, friendly and a great host. We very much enjoyed the wines, especially the estate viognier and a few or the reds. They have nice large bocce ball courts and the surrounding are idyllic. I think this is probably one of the nicest places to come, get a bottle of wine and to enjoy the grounds in yeh Kenwood area.
I was a member of Chateau St. Jeans wine club for two years and would pick up on site twice a year. In the food and wine sector I rate three things.
The view/environment 5 stars
Quality of product 0 stars. Who would buy an over priced product of low quality.
Quality of service 0 stars. Intermittently friendly but slow service. Lack of product knowledge. Overall feel of not wanting to be there.
Overall 1.75/5
Sometimes you need to have a bad experience in order to appreciate the good ones. Unfortunately this was a costly and bad experience in both time and money.
I agree with the reviewers who called this place snooty, pretentious, and not at all attentive. I really try not to give bad reviews but I feel that this place needs a wake up call.
First off, the price for the basic tasting was over $50. This included 5 wines. The samples were minuscule. I could hardly even get a taste for each.
The biggest problem however was the lack of attention from our server. With no exaggeration we waited more than 10 minutes between samples. I had to get up to ask them to bring out our last two glasses at the same time. The worst part about all of it is that there was hardly anybody in the place. I have no idea what they were doing but they were certainly not focused on their customers.
The place is beautiful. But that's it. I recommend that you drive up, take a look around, and then leave. There are so many great vineyards. No reason to waste your money here.
One of our favorite wineries visits we in Sonoma and Napa! Jessie our wine educator was simply wonderful and pleasant. The wines in the tastings were by far the best in any of the wineries we've visited. This is a smaller winery with a French touch, and the grounds were magnificent!
Good wine tasting. friendly service. was able to accommodate walk ins. tasty desserts.
Came here a few weeks back.
This is a nice place.
Beautiful garden and surroundings. …
We stopped in to the Chateau after a weekend camping at sugarloaf. There was ample parking on a Sunday at noon. The staff was very friendly and inviting. The main tasting room was decorated nicely. …
0/10! Our wine-tasting experience fell far short of our expectations. We were eager to enjoy an informative and enjoyable tasting, but unfortunately, our visit left us disappointed. …
AMAZING! We had a wonderful time! The views are gorgeous and this winery has stunning grounds. The service and attention was fabulous. The wines are delicious! I highly recommend.
I am a wedding and event photographer in northern California. I have photographed in more than 100 venues and Chateau St Jean is one of my favorites for its beauty, history, wine, and great staff. If you're considering a wedding in wine country and you want some amazing character, check out Chateau St Jean. I highly recommend them!
